Continuing our series on massage, this week we describe three types of massage we offer here at the clinic - relaxation/wellbeing massage, energetic/esoteric massage and lymphatic drainage massage. Read on to find out more about these modalities and how they might be able to support you.
Relaxation / Wellbeing Massage
Great for: general tension, stress and fatigue
The room is gently lit and warm, the towels are warm and the oil is warm…This is all about destressing, re-connecting, resting and loosening up the body. If you work hard or feel like you need to give yourself a gift of care and have little time for you this is the one to book.
This treatment combines, flowing strokes which can be slow or vigorous and work the deep tissue as is required, without being painful. The aim is to make space for you to relax both your mind and body. Relaxation Massage is great if you regularly feel fatigued, tense or stressed.
Energetic / Esoteric Massage
Great for: emotional tension, body connection, building a sense of settlement and stillness.
Energetic or Esoteric Massage considers the whole person, their physicality, emotions and energetic configurations while supporting the client to connect with their inner stillness. It is offered to support the body to heal ingrained postural, emotional and energetic dysfunction and disharmony. Every day wear and tear, trauma and emotions can leave their mark on the body and finding ways of healing and clearing these marks enables us to flourish in full
The practitioner, undertakes a consultation and may discuss an area of the body to support, although a general whole body massage may be advised. This massage technique complements the healing practice we offer at the clinic and they work well in combination. The practitioner works not on a cure but rather supporting the client and their body to heal and clear what gets in the way of their true flow and movement. This energetic / esoteric massage offers the potential for a harmonising effect on the flow of energy in and through the body.
This treatment includes circular and long rhythmic strokes which are gentle. Energetic / Esoteric Massage offers deep healing, delivered with a supportive and nurturing touch, which supports the client to reconnect and restore their own knowing and connection with their inner stillness while also supporting the physical body and true expression in movement.
Lymphatic Drainage Massage
Great for: swelling particularly lower leg, joints and limb that have been sedentary and detoxing the system gently.
Lymphatic Drainage Massage uses gentle strokes to support the lymphatic system. It is a specialised massage, supporting your body’s lymphatic system. A lymphatic drainage massage supports the functioning of the lymphatic system enabling the body to eliminate toxins and excess fluid from the body’s tissue.
This treatment includes long gentle strokes, with soft pumping motions in the direction of the lymph nodes. Lymphatic Drainage Massage has been found to support issues such as fibromyalgia, arthritis, knee surgery, lower leg swelling and lymphoedema.
